Over the past five years of my life, I have felt the need to help others. One thing that is a big but small contribution that I do to help others is an annual clean out of my closet. After I am usually done cleaning out my closet, I usually have two full trash bags of clothes that I know I will never wear again. Instead of throwing them away and contributing to the 4% of clothes that become waste I either donate them or take them to a local thrift store. While in high school I have done numerous community service and service projects. For example, I have helped run and organize a car wash. I have helped with beach clean ups and park clean ups. I have contributed my time in walks for Down Syndrome. I have helped with reffing field hockey games. Contributed my time towards building floats for parades. Picking up trash after tournaments around my high school. Helping move furniture and art pieces. I helped a Delaware, Ohio local food pantry and helped set up the free store. I have helped with a Christmas open house with decorating and being present for the event that helped a lady recover from life changing surgery. And finally, my favorite I have helped coach youth kids starting to play soccer. After all these events big or small in my life it amazes me to know that you have touched at least one person, whether they know it or don’t. The impact that you have on others is so much more powerful than not doing anything at all.
